Administrating Balkan Ruby

To ensure we keep the ticket sales at the low count, we have invested the limited Balkan Ruby time we have into the things that matter – the admin interface.

Balkan Ruby may seem like a simple website, but it offers native ticket sales, invoicing, lineup management, sponsorship, scheduling, and more. As the Balkan system grows and is used across multiple events, we need to invest time in it and make it easier to manage a multi-tenant experience. We need an admin interface.

I have used administration plugins before – heck, I use one for the post I'm writing right now – but I don't like them. I don't like managing this system across Rails releases, I don't like delving into its code base to figure out how to do what I want. I don't like relearning it after a few years of misuse. So, for Balkan Ruby, I wrote the admin from scratch!

Or, maybe I should have bought Avo. 🤷‍♂️
